Tony and Emmy-Nominated Glee Star Matthew Morrison Will Play 54 Below

Golden Globe and Tony Award-nominated "Glee" star Matthew Morrison will play a two-performance engagement at 54 Below in June. The concerts will celebrate the release of his upcoming studio album "Where It All Began."

Morrison, known to Broadway audiences for The Light in the Piazza, Hairspray and South Pacific, will return to the New York stage for two intimate evenings of song June 2 at 9:30 PM and June 4 at 7 PM.

Tickets will go on sale to 54 Below subscribers April 26 and to the general public on May 1.

Morrison's album "Where It All Began" will be released June 4. It promises "Singin' in the Rain," which Morrison covered on "Glee," and "Younger Than Springtime," which he performed nightly in the Tony Award-winning revival of South Pacific.

According to producers, "Featured on the recording are a collection of classic standards, many of which were first made famous in Broadway musicals. To create the twelve songs featured on this exciting new album, Morrison turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (who produced the likes of Frank Sinatra & Tony Bennett, among many others), and Grammy Award-winning producer Gregg Field. The collection marks the first release from 222 Records, the newly formed label from Adam Levine."

On June 1 PBS will broadcast Morrison's solo concert from the Busnhell Center for the Performing Arts, which was taped last November, in Hartford, CT.

Morrison received a Tony nomination for his work in The Light in the Piazza and also appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Hairspray, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, The Rocky Horror Show and Footloose. On "Glee," he plays high school show-choir director and Spanish teacher Will Schuester.

Tickets are priced $45-$55. There is a $25 food/beverage minimum. 54 Below is located at 254 W. 54th Street. Tickets and additional information are available at 54Below.com.

Tickets info: June 2 and June 4th.

Matthew to present at the Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards!

Stage favorites Matthew Morrison, Jeremy Jordan and Stephanie J. Block have joined the starry list of presenters at the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards. Hosted by daytime star Wendy Williams, the awards will be held on May 5 at The Allen Room in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Time Warner Center, New York City. The trio will join previously announced presenters Aaron Tveit and Sierra Boggess, with more to be announced shortly.

Morrison earned an Emmy nomination for playing Mr. Schuester on the hit TV series Glee. He is set to release his second solo album Where It All Began, a collection of Broadway standards, on June 4. He receieved a Tony nomination for The Light in the Piazza and also appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Hairspray, A Naked Girl on the Appalachian Way, Footloose and The Rocky Horror Show.

Jordan picked up two Audience Choice Awards in 2012 for his charasmatic turn as Newsies' Jack Kelly. He currently appears on the Broadway-centric TV series Smash. Jordan also earned a Tony nomination for Newsies and previously starred in Bonnie & Clyde, West Side Story and Rock of Ages.

Block is nominated for two 2012 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards for her gender-bending turn in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Her other Broadway credits include Anything Goes, 9 to 5, The Pirate Queen, Wicked and The Boy From Oz.

Nominations for the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards were announced last week, with Kinky Boots and Matilda topping the list with the most nods. This year, fans can vote through May 2 for a slew of Broadway stars, including breakout newcomers and renowned veterans like Patti LuPone, Norbert Leo Butz, Nathan Lane andScarlett Johansson.

Viewers can watch the full ceremony online at Broadway.com following the event.
