Glee's Matthew Morrison Makes His Big Music Debut - YouThink Magazine
After performing on Broadway and the hit TV show Glee, Matthew Morrison has finally released his own album.

If the name Matthew Morrison doesn’t ring a bell, then perhaps the name Will Schuester does. Starring on the hit TV show Glee, Matthew Morrison plays Mr. Schuester, the eternally optimistic high-school teacher who tries to reinvent the outcast glee club.

Not only does Morrison star on an extremely successful TV show, but his list of accomplishments also includes numerous shows on Broadway, performances for the president as well as nominations for Emmys, Tonys and the Golden Globes. Recently, the 32-year-old released his debut album and I caught up with him in Vancouver to talk about his rise to stardom.

“My dream was always to be on Broadway and luckily, I accomplished that dream at a young age,” says Morrison. “My first Broadway show was when I was 19 years old.”

But after his decade-long success on Broadway, Morrison was ready to take the next step: “I did Broadway for about 10 years straight and then, when you get to a point where your dreams come true, you need to make new dreams. So I started to put my focus more into film and TV, then I realized I wanted to make an album.”

This summer, Morrison went on his first tour as one of the opening acts for the Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block reunion shows – and the response from his fans has been extremely positive.

“The cool thing about being on tour is that you go out and you sing your songs and people in the audience are singing them back,” he smiles. “I don’t think there is any greater feeling than that, than writing these songs and actually having people know them and sing them back to you.”
